06/09 Detroit and ready to fly
We made it safely to the airport with only a minor bit of excitement - a slight rearend. Les and I decided to leave the driving to someone else, but his style was a little more reckless than ours. No harm to anyone, and just a slight bit of damage to the car behind our limo.
The drive was just a mild reminder that we are on an adventure, and I'm glad that you are sharing this adventure with us. We also realized that for the next nine weeks we are totally at the mercy of others. We are no longer in control, or living with the illusion of being in control.
First God-sighting ... God is the one who is supposed to be in control. This is His trip, not ours. As I sit waiting for the opportunity to board in about one hour, it was very clear that I am surrendering everything I know about my security, and putting myself in the security of other governments, principalities and powers way beyond my control. We're just along for the ride, and I believe that that's the first step in learning something new about God. We applied for this Clergy Renewal Grant, but I believe that God called us to be in this particular place in our life at this particular time. God gave us this experience, so I believe that He called us to be here. I pray that we will be more and more open to His leading.
